I’ve had my share of jobs that I didn't love over the years, doing work that bored me while making someone else rich. For a long time it felt like the only way was to do your work, try to stay quiet, collect your paycheck, go home and dream of a better life. Repeat.
Having my my financial future be in the hands of anyone but my own was starting to take a toll on my mental health. I was constantly terrified that I could be laid-off. I had to do something. So I decided to start an online store, which was successful. But if you’ve ever stored, shipped & sold products you know what a hassle it can be and I was soon to become a mom, I didn’t have time for all that busywork (not to mention the storage). So I started a blog…. Well, two blogs to be exact.
Two blogs that ended up being absolute flops. The first, didn’t even make it off the ground because I followed the advice of using Wordpress which I found to be a technical nightmare. The second lacked direction & a solid foundation and didn’t make a single sale. Even with all the information I had consumed about blogging, I still had no idea what I was doing. I felt like I had tried everything!
That’s when I decided to start over completely from scratch.
This time, I HAD to make this work like my life depended on it. So I got down to business and figured out how to do this blogging thing the right way and get income coming in fast!
But it wasn't easy...
When I started my third (and final) blog, I decided to take all of the information I had gathered, including my failures and lay it all out on the table to try & make some sense of it all.
I figured out what worked and more importantly what wasn’t working.
Less than a week later I had a new blog built on the kind of foundation that my first two should have been built on and I was ready to launch.
The information I had at this point took me years to learn and less than a week to create my new blog!
And then, it happened. I couldn’t believe it. I made my first sale. It was $28.
This $28 dollars meant so many things but most importantly it meant that blogging wasn’t the pyramid scheme I was beginning to think it was and that I could do this over and over again and hit my income goals. And so I did!
